Chemistry Review

Overview

Part of the match.com family, Chemistry uses an in-depth personality test that’s the brainchild of relationship expert, Dr. Helen Fischer.

She believes that “love is composed of attachment, attraction, and lust. Each of these three categories emits a different combination of chemicals from the brain, and without one, you don’t have a full experience of love.” This is where the science comes into her personality test – it’s dedicated to helping you find longer lasting love.

If you’re considering Chemistry then check out our review below to find out what we really think of it.

Chemistry member structure

As Chemistry is geared up towards finding its users long-term love, most people on the site are over 30 years old and are generally seen as more ‘affluent’ members of society.

This is because 46% have a Bachelor’s Degree, while 18% have a Graduate Degree. Most members earn over $50k a year – only 17% are on a lower salary.

  • Member Activity: Over 8 million people around the world have taken the chemistry test. In addition, there are roughly 366,000 visitors every month.
  • Gender ratio: 56% Women and 44% Men

Age ratio

  • 18 – 24: 18%
  • 24-34: 20%
  • 35-44: 25%
  • 45-54: 24%
  • 55+: 13%

How does Chemistry work?

It’s all about the chemistry questionnaire. Once this has been taken during sign up, members are split into four personality types – Explorer, Builder, Negotiator or Director. This will determine who you’re matched up with as each personality type has a ‘best’ and ‘worst’ match.

Sign up and how to join

Signing up takes around 10 minutes. After setting up your username and password, you’re taken to the chemistry test.

It’s a pretty simple questionnaire – there are a series of questions that require you to agree or disagree to, and there are a couple of blanks questions to fill out, too.

These are quite fun and unique – you might be asked things like “how long is your index finger?”. You can then fill out a bit about yourself and what you’re looking for so other members can get to know you better.

Ease of use

All your matches are served up to you, which means you can’t search through profiles. This makes life very easy (if a bit boring, but it all depends on personal preference). You can view matches that Chemistry have paired you with, so no thought is really required at all when you use the site.

Messages, chat & notifications

Profile quality

Because the test is so in-depth, you can see how much you have in common with other members via their profile. The ‘bit about yourself’ section requires a minimum of 200 characters which means the answers are generally quite detailed.

Mobile app download for iPhone and Android

There isn’t one! This is quite a downside – for now you’re limited to the desktop version. You can get this on your phone though, which is better than nothing.

Real life reviews

[su_quote]
In July of 2007, I met a wonderful man. First, we communicated by email, then by phone, finally, we met. Our first date started at a Starbucks, then we went to a movie and then dinner…we were together for 8 hours! A vacation to the upper peninsula in September. By October, we had keys to each other’s house. We went on a cruise in April of 2008…he proposed at the bon voyage party! June 23, 2018 we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary! As with anything, you will get out of it what you put into it! Keep your eyes, ears and heart open.[/su_quote]
